My 78 has the tank in the cab and the tank in the frame, but under the right side of the cab on the frame is an 8 psi transfer pump. I can't quite see how the fuel lines are running. Does the tank in the cab transfer into the tank in the frame and then to the engine or is the fuel line from the tank in the cab T'd into the fuel line coming from the tank in the frame. I need to know this for my wiring harness cause i may have to run a seperate wire to run the transfer pump.
Does anyone else have this transfer pump? i have a push pull switch on the dash that switches from tank to tank. thanks

I've never worked on a Dodge dual tank setup but the GMs and Fords had a "transfer switch"; and no it didnt empty one out into the other (Ive herd of that happening on Fords when the switch (not the dash part; the "valve" on the frame) went bad and emptying one, allowing the other tank (usually the rear tank on those trucks) to ovefflow; usually you run off of whichever tank you have it switched to, its not supposed to transfer between tanks at all, when you switch tanks, it's like you take the not-being-used-right-now tank, out of the picture. I've never owned a dual tank vehicle; but have worked on a few; and have sometimes wanted to add a tank to some of the trucks I've had. (the ramcharger tank that mounts behind the axle or maybe ione out of a B van, would be perfect IMHO) for an auxilary tank; 30 gallons in the stock tank; + another 36 gallon aux tank; it would be an expensive fill if you did them both together; but the cruising range; would be GREAT!
