So I was looking to paint my old 85 myself. If im using spray paint what would be the best way to go about it? I dont really know what color to do though.
I'm thinking mat black with some HEMI orange here and there...

for some ideas, drop down to the Concept and Modified forum and ask those guy to photoshop your paint ideas on a picture of your truck
I'm going to give this a shot this summer (hopefully)

By spray paint ... do you mean "rattle-cans"??
I wouldnt.. Heres a realitive inexspensive way to get a paint job ( do it yourself that is )
Beg , borrow or steal a air compressor and a HVLP paint gun,
Go to your local parts store ( autozone, Advance etc. ) and get the duplicolor "Paintshop"
ready to use automotive paint

they have everything from primmer to clear coat.. ( just stir & shoot )
Just a thought.. Good luck & keep us posted..
I used this stuff to prime my 80' before I sold it.. It went on nice ( and easy )

on the HVLP...what type of spray tips are you using with the gun?

Don't bother w/ spray-cans, they are so expensive now that to do a good job w/ decent coverage you'd spend as much or more as a gallon of good paint would cost.

ditto, even 10 years ago it cost me about $80 in spray paint just to do a good job on a vw bug.

I have a friend that painted his truck with Rustoleum and a roller. Actually looked fairly good.

First paint job, use a HVLP gun and acrylic enamel single stage paint. READ READ READ and take your time and you should get good results.

I read a article in Car Craft were a guy painted has car with a roller he wet sanded between every coat and it turned out to look like a professional job, alot of work...ya but it was to show people that anyone can paint their car with enough time and patience.
