Well, truck came with no stereo system. I have 2 speaker boxes for it behind the seat but when i went to install a CD player there are no wires for it at all:rolleyes:...
What exactly do I need?
How do I go about installing it?
I went to Best Buy and the said the only sell the wires going into the CD player not the wires going into the truck...

If it's just a generic wire-color-coded-all-the-same-these-days stereo, all your going to have to find is (And you'll have to find them)
Ground - easy
A constant 12v source (For clock, presets, etc)
A switched 12v source, preferably one that's on with the key turned to accesory... There should already be some factory wire near where the radio is .. You'll just have to find it.
Then it's just running speaker wire and hooking up the antenna..

I just did this in my 83; wired the plugs I cut from a 90s junkyard vehicle into it and am using a newer OE Mopar AM-FM-cassette; I have a better one on "loan" to my nephew, with AM FM CD and cassette, out of a minivan I think.

For constant power, you can run a wire with a fuse block to the battery. And then just find the one for ignition. And then ground it to a good ground under the dash. And like Bruce said, just run the speaker wires to where you need them.

By a voltage meter. Use that so you can find a wire with a Constant 12vlts and one that is only hot when the ignition is on.

I have a Fluke meter and a "Power probe" self powered testlight, but find that for simple things like that my "regular" 12V testlight (the one with the alligator clip that you hook to "ground" ) and the needle point and the lightbulb is faster for such searching for power/switched wires.
