Today I installed rear AirLift air bags #57105 on my '02 1500. I have the psi down to 25 and the rear is still sitting too high, probably putting stress on the front end. The bags look kinda flimsy because there is not much air in them. I want to bring the psi down more but am afraid of damaging them OR rendering them useless (not enough support). Was wondering what psi others are using. Thanks,M.

I'm not 100% sure on Airlift specs, but firestone saye a minimum of 5 psi is needed to keep the bags from getting damaged.

That said, one time I aired down to 0 when at a campsite in Baja, and forgot completely to fill them before driving away. I got about 10 miles when reason permeated my hangover and I realized I was bottoming out a lot on the Rough dirt roads.

No damage carrying a lot of weight.

I usually keep about 20 passenger side, 25 driverside, but that's being lazy on my part. Once I turn on my compressor, by the time I unscrew the attachment off the schrader valve, I'm at 25 psi.

It rides better on 15d and 10p.

I'd say not to stress damaging them unless you have 0 psi in them and are loaded down

Thanks! Yeah, the instructions say 10psi, but they are really "deflated" looking with 25psi. Not firm in the least. Normal? I am backing them down to 20 then 15 if the ass end is still too high.

Don't go by the looks of the bags. The only time mine look right is at 100 psi. At 5 psi they look worthless, but they're still working. At 100 psi it rides like there is no rear suspension.
At 25 psi try to jab a finger in them. They are not thin walled squishy balloons.

You've got a warranty on em, They're designed as tough, tougher than most tires pressure wise. If it still has a stinkbug stance at 10 psi, you're not carrying enough tools.
Only stress the deflated look if they will rub on the u bolt shackles, and they won't/can't, if installed correctly and inflated to the minimum psi.

Keep in mind that they might not look tight with the lower PSI sitting at a standstill, but as you drive and the suspension bounces up and down they get compressed and balloon out.
