Hello,I have bought a new gearbox and pump.
As soon as its warm enough to work outside I plan on trying to replace these parts.I got a dodge service manual and it seems pretty straightforward.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips while doing this.
I am planning on disconnecting the steering column at the rag joint.
Anybody know the size of the bolts that hold the gearbox down?
Hard to see what I am doing,I am thinking of sticking a socket on a extension and just probing around until it slips on the head of the bolts. The nuts underneath look like they are spot welded.
Oh yeah, the manual says to file off one of the spline teeth,of the new gearbox input shaft,What is that for?
does it matter if I dont?
Cheers

Original gear boxes had one spline missing so that if you took the shaft apart you'd be forced to put the shaft back together in the same spot, keeping your steering wheel straight.

Oh yeah, and make sure you remove the coolant and washer fluid bottles if your's are both on the driver's side. It opens that whole area up around the gear box real nice.
