What the ****.... It seems that my center console's power outlet is plugged directly into the battery! That puts a kink in my iPod plans because I have the iPod getting powered from that outlet -- but now when I leave it in there, it will charge all night and day, which is not what I wanted. Is there any EASY way to rewire it, or would it require me running a new wire from the dash mounted power outlet all the way to the center console one?

you could go to wally world and buy a togle switch and wire it in (easy)
or you could find the wire that goes to the outlet and disconnect it from the closest point to the switched outlet. Make sure you tape off the bare ends very good. Than run a jumer wire from the wire going to the console and atatch it to the wiring going to the switched outlet. (somwhat easy if you know wich wires) and feel comfortable removing your dash bezle. By switched outlet I mean the one on your dash that turns on and off with you key. Hope this helps...

Just use the cigarette lighter. It comes on and off with the ignition.
