Have an 1989 B350 dodge 15 pass van with a 5.9 360 cu in engine. It needs a new rear main seal as it is leaking. Can I drop the oil pan and clear the pickup on the oil pump after ONLY removing the cross over exhaust pipe? It sure looks like a close call as the cross arm between the frame rails does not appear to allow enough clearance to completely remove the oil pan after removal of all the oil pan bolts.

You have to raise the engine several inches to gain the clearance needed to remove the oil pan.

I have to do this soon on my '91 B250/318. I was all set to do it when I noticed in my factory manual it says there's a chance the rear cam or galley plugs could be leaking or even a porous block causing the leak...

Ahhh shucks. You must have to at least remove the air filter housing to be able to raise the engine enough to clear the dog house frame. Correct? Anything else need to be considered? Thank you.

Yes, removing the AF housing is a good idea, as well as the top 1/2 of the fan shroud. Other than that, just watch the slack on your hoses and wires.
