I will preface my ? with the fact that I have replaced my front calipers and installed high quality front rotors last time a changed brakes. My front brake pads need replacing but they are not down to the metal yet. My question is why is the finish on my front rotors look like a corduroy pattern. Most vehicles that I have seen with worn brake pads still have that smooth finish on the rotors. Also I have a slight pulsation when brakes are applied especially at high speeds.

well first off the pulsation is a sign that your rotors are warped wether is very much or not.. but usually a overheating of the brake causes that.. so before replacing any rotor is to find out why they were.

Well first off check your rear brakes and that they are running perfect, not sure but assuming you have rear drum brakes... make sure they are properly adjusted.. with ebrake and all brake evenly.. then bleed the brake system and flush brake fluid.. now if you have an overheating problem still would be that maybe someone drives with brake on such as 2 feet or slam them on hard while goin down hill on the highway kinda thing. Or you could have a sticking front caliper.. causing a slight drag on it.. So make sure the front brake pads are all lubed such as never sieze ont he slide points.. Also when you replaced the pads I assume you never let the caliper hang from the brake line.. if you did even for a moment.. its possible you could have a semi collapsed line.. will also cause a drag.

All that can cause your warped rotors.. because a high quality rotor should never warp if everything is good running order

But sounds like your rotors might be hooped but as for the pattern they look.. could be overheating causing that but with out a pic no idea what you mean...
