I just bought a 2008 GC SE that had previously been used as a rental. In the owner's manual package there was a piece of paper that specifically said "08 Caravan Fleet US."
How do these models differ from the retail units?
Is there a way to track down the original window sticker via the VIN?

I'm not sure but the parts counter od the dealer can either ge tit or tell you if it's possible. An email to Chrysler I would think will net you an answer to any question you may have. Check out the fleet section of a manufacturer's website for general info.

Rental cars have special things done to their engines
such as multiple neutral drops and wall burnouts.

We're sitting in a hotel room, having just picked up a T&C as a rental. I must say that I'm very disappointed in it. I told my wife that the T&C used to be the luxury version of the Chrysler lineup but this one is a stripper. No power seats, no temperature readout or overhead console which I assume that there is no Homelink. Plus the engine was just plain crude as far as smoothness goes. I still haven't found the mirror adjustment.

In doing a little further research, the rental van we have is the absolute base model without a single option that I can detect. So I'm guessing that's what makes it a rental model.

I worked for a rental company for 15 years. There is no difference except for a few option packages that were put together for fleet buyers. Many times during peak rental seasons we would get new vehicles off dealers lots that had extra inventory. I bought 3 rentals while I worked for them and got good service from all of them. I purchased a 09 Murano X rental 6 months ago with no problems so far. You might want to check you rear seats to be sure they can be removed, they used to put a small spot weld on them so they couldn't be removed by a renter. This was to prevent renters from using them for commerical purposes.
Good luck.

Rental vehicles that are purchased as program vehicles to be returned to the manufactures have more equipment on them to make them more attractive to buyers when they are bought by the manufactures dealers.
Rental companies that own their own vehicles and sell them off themselves usually order less options to save money.
