My brother is considering replacing his F150 with
an RS, and the showstopper is his need to
tow his 7500 lb trailer (a very nice 25' Whaler :rck: )
In my various web clickings, I see that the
highest factory tow rating is 4000 lbs. :WHA:
Does anyone know of any reasonable and
straightforward way to upgrade to 7500 lbs
towing capacity? A factory-approved method
would be best.
Barring that, is the prospect reasonable, or not?
Thanks for any help! :wavey:

I would not think that idea to be the most feasible. He needs a truck frame to go along with the hp/tq. It is not all about power. I would sure not want to back that 7500lb. boat down a ramp with that 4,000 lb car. But maybe that's just me. ;)

I agree with 2020is plus I think the transmission will be a problem. You're gonna almost double the highest rated weight for that car.Be prepared to replace the tranny often. The Hemi has the power and torque but I don't think that powertrain is designed for towing that kind of load.I'm not an expert but I've been towing boats around for 20 years and like 2020is said, you might turn that Magnum into a submarine.Ive seen it happen several times at the marinas down here.
By the way, what do you do with a 25' Whaler(damn nice boat)in Arizona?I didn't think there was any water out there. How 'bout I drive out there and haul that Whaler down here to Miami. The dolphin are gettin' thick out in the gulfstream.I'll even take you guys out fishin' with me.(insert grinning smiley face here)Anyways, goodluck and enjoy that whaler.

I was thinking the exact same thing!! Good fishin' here on the coast of NC too.

Thanks guys,
I appreciate the straight scoop, even if
it means that my idea doesn't hold water. ;D
C'mon Reddrum, ignore your pride, and use
a stupid emoticon! :bman: ;)
Yeah, I'm in Tucson, but my bro is in
Michigan, and he lives for Small Craft Warnings,
when he launches his Whaler off the waves. :spank:
Thanks for the offer though--very tempting.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. My bro may
be SOL, but I'm not. I'm lusting for a Magnum. I've
been waiting years for the SUV craze to
play itself out, and for powerful, stylish, affordable American
sedans to return. :rck:
I plan to buy one as soon as they get a track
record, and prices drop to non-frenzied levels.
Thanks again for your help!

I don't know that I can add alot to the answers already given other than to ask Red when he expects the Bluefish to migrate to the NC coast and if it might be worth a drive from Atlanta to catch a few from the beach????

Sorry dave I'm in Miami. The only time I ever hear about bluefish is when they try to eat swimmers at the beach.2020is is the one from NC.But if you find yourself down this way I can set ya' up with some offshore fishing(dolphin, wahoo, sailfish, shark, mackerel).
