painting rims?

I have an '01 Durango SLT with the standard rims. Can they be painted? If so, how, potential problems, etc.?

Also, I'd like to widen the stance of the vehicle. Can this be done with the stock rims?

I can't say anything about painting, but I have had wheels powder coated and it worked great. I think paint would chip too easily on wheels.

My bro had his rims painted after tire dealer scratched them during install. They look good.
It's a 99, they're a diff shade and style than mine, don't know if they ever were the same color.
