I have a 05 dodge caravan. I have no break lights, I have checked fuses they are ok, I have changed the break light switch and there is still no break lights. Now I can't get the shifter into gear. The way I understand it you put your foot on the break which allows you to shift into gear but if the break light switch is not functioning it seems that it won't let me shift it into gear. The break light switch is very simple to install you just have to connect the electrical plug and rotate the switch into the bracket in front of the break pedal. Any suggestion to what I have done wrong???

Did you adjust the switch correctly after replacing it? It needs adjusted so when you hit the brake pedal the switch activates. If it's pushed in too far it will never activate. Preferably you want it to activate when the pedal is pushed slightly.
Test for power at the switch. That will lead you in the right direction. If you have power at the switch the problem lies between the switch and the tail lights. If no power at the switch the problem lies between it and the battery.
Is your turn signal switch operating correctly? Does it bind or not turn off after turns and such. The brake lights are routed through it. If it gives problems your brake lights can quit working as with your turn signals.
