Hey everyone. I'm new here, but I need some help. I have a 1997 4 Cylinder 2.4L Stratus with a little over 90,000 miles. My problem is that for the past week and a half or so, it's been spitting, stuttering, misfiring...whatever you wanna say. I thought it was bad gas since we've had some around here because it got worse as the gauge went down. So I first tried some dry gas and some fuel injection cleaner. Those didn't help at all. So then I put a new fuel filter on. That didn't work. Next I changed the spark plugs. 3 of the 4 were burnt. Obviously not good. So once I changed them, it ran fine for less than a day. Now it's back to sputtering. I push the gas pedal, and it just stutters, so I give it some more gas and it runs smooth until the speed gets up to about 45 or so, then it sputters off and on. I'm at a loss to figure out what's wrong. I can't afford anything big since my fiancee's motor in his car just blew. So I'm trying all the little stuff first and hoping. I know that I probably have to replace the timing belt soon. Would this have anything to do with it? If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks.
