Bought a 2000 caravan SWB a couple of months ago and discovered a broken lug stud on the passenger front side wheel. Bought a new stud, removed the wheel and brakes and caliber no problem, sprayed the broken lug with PB and let sit, popped out no problem. However there is not enough clearance anywhere to insert the new stud. Question is do I have to replace with a whole new hub assy ? Can I unscrew the large nut on the center of the nut and just remove the flange that the studs are mounted on ? And if I can do this will I have to repack the bearing ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

the large nut in the center of the bearing hold the axle shaft to the bearing removing that will not help. you might have to take off the nut and push back the axle shaft and remove the 3 bolts holding the bearing to the knuckle. you might be able to grind on the bearing in a small spot to get the stud in. hope this helps.

Usually there's a notch somewhere behind that allows for this, and you have to spin that hub until the hole in question is lined up with it. If you don't have that I can't think of anything, but someone in here had this problem and it turned out the wrong stud had been supplied. You may need a stud that has a flat side on its head.
