Hadn't really tested the performance of our R/T AWD, and I am not into street racing at all but...As my wife and I were returning home from a sunday cruise we were getting pushed pretty hard going uphill by an 08 Hemi ram pickup. Dying to let our R/T stretch its legs I found the floor pan with my foot. The car (left in drive) stepped into passing gear (the 6 speed actually has a seventh gear fyi dedicated to passing) from 100 km/h (60 mph) and immediately started to pull away on the Ram, and as the rev's came up it pulled away on the Ram like he was standing still. I must say the R/T has guts and I am impressed with the performance. One other incident occured while at a light with a SS Cobalt in which I left the Cobalt easily. Didn't break the speed limit just showed the Cobalt who's boss...I am sure the local cops might have viewed this in a different light...lol

Just thought I'd share that with you...btw, we averaged 8.8 liters per 100 km that day. The car has 5000 km on her now.

That's great mileage! The 3.5L is a good, proven engine and in the lighter Avenger, even with AWD proves to be a worthy adversary, good show!

Yes, I gotta admit, even our 2.4L 4cyl will get up and scream. It really seemed to help when I put AMSOIL in the crankcase. I already modified the air intake a bit, next step for breathing is the muffler... Sure wish we had the AWD up here in Utah though.

Ok, so this might be coming a habit...on the way home ran into a '07 V6 Mustang at the lights...he tried and gave up quickly, I am impressed with the wifes R/T it really pulls well. I credit alot of its quick acceleration to the slick 6 speed trans, I absolutley left the Mustang. Takes me back a few years. really need to get my 66 done.
Cheers!

Next time on the highway drop it into auto stick and click it down to 4 and hammer it.
Watch it go then
Motor can take it will launch

Thanks, I have found our Avenger to be a great balance of sport, fun, performance with more than enough creature comforts. I am anxious to swap out the factory rubber, I would like to see a little more rubber on the road although traction is good.

Cheers!

I agree. The factory tires are a little soft for my liking. I just don't want to swap tires with only 10k on them...

Yup, thats the hard part and I don't exactly have loot falling out of my pockets for a new set of rubber, I bought the Avenger for the wife so I could focus on my 66...I just think too much!

Mopar or no car!!!

10,000 Kms just came back from a short trip and recorded 7.8 litres per 100Km (30 mpg) mostly highway and not necessarily driving with economy in mind 120-140 kmh (highway) Pretty pleased as the AWD drags mileage down somewhat, Anyone else with decent mileage reports? This is reported from my EVIC and not sure how accurate it is...
