New 2002 sxt with 2.0 engine, manual trans. Engine seems fine at higher rpms, but off idle seems extremely tight. Has anyone had a similar experience, and if so, how long did it take to loosen up. There are only 78 miles on the car at the moment, but still....

ive heard from a lot of auto cross racers of the neons that the piston wells in the blocks need to get straightened out manually by rubbing against the piston seals
sounds bad but its really good for more power and smoother running engine so that very well might be your problem
so yeah just give it a bit more and see

Are you saying there's not much power at lower rpm's? This is the way most over head cam motors are. The seem sluggish till they "cam" up. Usaully around 3,000 - 3,500.
