it just as not as long-lasting as better quality pipe such as stainless
but for doing up just a cooking exhaust for a stock truck- it works okay if you have to watch your pennies

It lasted for over ten years on my '73.

Does it rust within a year like the oem pipes or will it retain the finish? I could easly paint it.

It mostly looked good, but there were a few spots that had minor rust.

that's what I have always used, its on my 78 Fury 2 door as we speak and will be on my truck, as soon as I can get my nephew's Jeep outta my way so I can get the headers on there before taking it to the exhaust shop.
My nephew blew the head (2.5--4 banger) it got HOT and he kept on going til 2 intake valves warped enuf to esentially make it a "2 cylinder" and drop the compression on 2 holes, to ~40PSI! I'm waiting for the exh manifold from it, to come back from being welded up; it helps tremendously having a welding teacher among one's buddies!
