Well I just picked up a 1976 Dodge Power Wagon Warlock. It has the original 440-1 engine still. I'm curious what axles these trucks came with, I know it has the auto-locking front axle. Also, this came with the 203 t-case, correct? Know what the timing should be? Seems to run like the timing is off just a little bit.

Anyone know of where to find an tailgate for it? It still has the wood bed floor, bed rails and gold wheels.

And before I forget, anyone know what the Pinion Angle should be? The guy I bought it from said the rear axle had been replaced and it blew a ujoint after about 150 miles of driving and then blew 2 more within 10 miles of replacing them...just looking at it, it looks like the pinion is sitting pretty flat.

I thought the auto locking dana 44 came out in 83. On the u joints...are you putting the locking c clips in?

Not sure about your 4x4 stuff as I have no knowledge about that however you can go here for a brand new utiline tailgate.

If that's a bit too expensive for you I'd say hit the wrecking yard. I find utiline beds from time to time with decent tailgates.

Are you saying the vehicle has been lifted?

well i looked at it today and it has about a 4" block in the rear, not sure if that was standard or not tho...

i haven't done anything with the u-joints...i've only had the truck for a day or two now and am working on some other things so i haven't gotten to the pinion angle issue yet...the front springs are extremly flat so need to get around to replacing those and then go from there i reckon

That block in the back and front springs sound just about normal. Have you checked the drive shaft for proper phasing?

There might still be a tag on the front Dana 44 axle which will show the axle ratio, probably a 3.55. The 203 transfer case is a full time 4 wheel drive truck which has a differential in the transfer case. Putting the transfer case in Hi-Loc or Low-Loc will lock the differential in the transfer case and send equal power to each axle.

I haven't found a tag anywhere on the front diff...anyone know what the timing specs should be for the 440?
