I know about KD linkage, and the 4 barrel throtle bracket being different from the 2 barrel ones, etc but is the cruise control cable also different between them?

I believe that there is enough adjustment in the cable clamp area to work with any carb as long as it is set up with the correct bracket.
FYI:
If you are running a non OEM Holley, get an Edelbrock throttle adaptor instead of a Holley unit, the Edelbrock adaptor as the special hole for the cruise control cable mount.

Ok maybe it is the same length? I got my Performer intake and #1405 carb out of the local junkyard; the truck had the 4 barrel bracket but the KD linkage was really jury rigged I doubt it worked like it should; the junkyard truck also had cruise but the cable was not connected. I took that little link from my 2 bbl carb and put it onto my AFB.

The issue is that the cable hold down bracket for the gas pedal cable has another mount, piggy backed onto it for the cruise; but it holds the cruise cable housing further back from the throttle shaft, than the 2 barrel one did, it appears that there should be more cable sticking out of the housing for the 4 bbl.
I found a TQ on an '80 van (360) and I got ALL the KD linkage (incl the rod that goes from there to the tranny), another 4 bbl throttle bracket, all but the cruise cable and the throtle cable (vans have rod-linkage, no cable for the gas pedal) along with a few other goodies; but I left the cruise cable; (w/o having mine right next to it to compare, it looked like that one did have more "stick out" than my 2 bbl) but since I discovered that van and got the 4 bbl air cleaner housing for mine, an '80 Ramcharger showed up in that yard with another TQ on it; (same carb # since it is also a 360) I am already planning a return trip Tues (1/2 price day at that pic a part yard) for that 2nd TQ, and I am gonna get all its linkage as well, while there, and a few pieces off of a Cherokee they have, too, for my wife's daily driver. (mostly interior trim type stuff like the inner tailgate panel; some of the "hazards" of owning black labs!)

As for me running a (Gasp-choke-cough) Holley, I got 1 word for ya; NEVER! thanks for the suggestion though.

Now that you mention it, all my experiences have been from the '60s and '70s and all of them have been 4bbls. I thought that there was enough metal collar on the cruise cable to be able to clamp it far enough out to attach to any carb.
I ran a Holley 4779 on my '79 W150 for a short while and couldn't hook up the cruise, that's when I found the Edelbrock adaptor, just an FYI.
I have ran AFBs, AVSs and TQs on most all my motors too. The Holleys on my 440 6BBL car ran very well though.
Sounds like you have a good source for parts. The Pick a part type yards here in So Cal don't seem to have many MoPars.

Yeah the current carb is a AFB 9635 with the Eddy adaptor; I have a 9636 as well (same carb that don't need an adaptor as it is MADE for a Mopar directly) and a 500 CFM #9511 that is also an aftermarket made for Mopar AFB. then theres the TQ I just got at the junkyard, and the other TQ I'm going to go get Tues (1/2 price day) from the same yard. I guess I'll grab teh cruise cable from that van too and if teh Ramcharger that (don't know it yet he he he) is gonna give up its TQ to me has cruise I'll get that one too!

Don,

The throttle cable clamp and the cruise cable clamp are located on the same bracket (at least, they are on my 400). If the throttle cable's alignment with the new carb's lever is wrong when using the original bracket, the cable for the cruise control won't line up either since they both must attach to the same lever.
