There is an easy solution to the problem, when your steering box tears a flap in the frame as is so common on 1972 up pick-ups. Something you can acomplish in your driveway and costs very little. The details are here:
....or you could get one of these. It is a factory piece that bolts between the steering box and the front cross member

You could, but when I did that, there was no time available to search any yards......I needed that truck now! Just another option.
