Regearing rear end

If i buy the ring and pinion gears do i have to get a master install kit or can i use the old bearings and just get a new gasket and stuff?

I believe you need to set the clearances with shims

improper clearances will cause premature wear and the unit will howl like a banshee

I was under the impression you needed the master kit mainly because if you were that far in you want to replace bearings anyway. You need the shims for proper shoe wear. And lastly because...and here is the part that scares me...the new crush collar. Now I know with proper dial guages and such this is easily accomplished..but still for me it is intimidating.
