Tried to get my truck inspected. NC DOT says I must have an O-2 sensor. There is a hole in the exhaust header for it but plugged. I DO NOT HAVE A COMPUTER that I am aware of; only ESC unit. So where the hell would it be wired to. My Owners manual says that "If so equipped O-2". Dodge dealer no help at all. Can't find a wire hanging anywhere and this truck is pretty original and clean. Any ideas ? :help:

They probably read that in some book to and don't really know for sure.:)

If it is supposed to have one; Fine. But if not I could just stick one in te hole and run a wire to nowhere.

That's EXACTLY my thinking .... Get some hunk-o-junk O2 sensor from the junk yard .... Run some wire from it and have it get lost in the maze of wiring under the hood.... ;)

Off subject: Would my 86 225 slant six and 904 trans fit in a 51 Plymouth 2 dr wagon that has a six in it now. Then I could put and 8 in my truck.

If it needs one but has nothing to hook it to you could put in an air/fuel ratio gauge. Then you could have some function and something to show that it works.

what year truck? anything below a 96 you only need a saftey inspection(yellow sticker). Also it depends on where you go,try the local dodge dealer because all saftey inspections are set @ one price. Id try them for the inspection.

Yea don't I know my 95 Dakota has all those fun things. The 85 Ram should be a whole new set of problems. Being everything I've ever driven has been fuel injected

If there is no electronic control on the carb an 02 sensor is not needed. This is a feedback carb that uses th 02 sensor to fine tune the air/fuel ratio.

Your government at its finest. My truck requires a NC safety inspection and a Tampering inspection. If it was a 95 or newer it would need the emissions test. Talked to STATE DOT rep and he said "The book must be wrong about your truck so just stick an O2 sensor in the hole in header pipe and it will pass." Even though it doesnot do a damn thing except lighten my wallet by $19 and change.

I'm going to have to drop the tailpipe from the exhaust manifold to get the damn plug thingy (that's a technical term) up and out of the exhaust pipe and try and figure some way of doing it so it doesn't drop down into the bottom. All my pipes are welded. It would be there to stay.
