It will be OK, but not great. If you tow a lot of weight or tow frequently you will want the 3.92's. You can always swap them out later for some 4.10's or 4.56's.

if you tow a lot, you'll want the 3.92, but if you tow occasionally, the 3.55's should be fine:D

I would highly suggest the 3.92. I have 4wd and 20" wheels and 3.92 and it still doesnt turn a lot of rpms at 70.

The OP cant find any with the 3.92 and is wanting to know if 3.55 is ok for a settling point.

But how many threads do you need? Haha I see at least three on the exact same subject.

Like stated though, if all you can get is the 3.55, then get it, and if it doesn't tow good enough for you, you can upgrade it later to 3.92's or higher.

I've had no issues towing or hauling with my 3.55's. But tell us a little bit more about what you have in mind for the truck..... because if you're going to be towing day-in, day-out and pushing the truck's limits, it might be worthwhile to wait til a 3.92 becomes available in your area.

If you have any hills nearby then get the 3.92's, see if the dealership will work out a deal for 4.10's so they would be covered under your lifetime warranty.

That's odd, it should be on the window sticker... if for some reason it's not you will need to have the service dept. at a dealership run the VIN for you.

On the left side in standard options it will tell you what gear ratio you have. On the SLT it will be 3.55 unless on the right hand side under installed options it explicitly says the 3.92 was added.

On the TRX the 3.92 is standard so it appears in the left column.

With all the trucks I have looked at I yet to see it listed on the window sticker which is a piss off cause pre 09 they always would include that info. Every 09 I looked at and there was a few of them always had to get saleman to print off the build sheet. It was a little disappointing to find that 3.55's are the most commen ones out there. Test drove and I can't really say I noticed a difference. So today I take delievery of black crew cab 1500 4x4 Laramie with 3.55's
