Don't you guys think that 2010 Dodge Ram HD can beat Ford F-450 in towing range?

04-12-2009, 09:57 PM
I saw two of these in Austin last weekend. I didnt believe my eyes when I saw the first one drive by, but it was a black mega cab with clearance lights and the Cummins logo but I still thought I was seeing things because I didnt think they were out yet. Then not 2 minutes later after I pull out to try and follow it another one passes by, but this time it was a black 3500 dually. The guys in the truck with me were wondering why I was going nuts, but I was just amazed that I saw them rolling around already. They look reallyyyyy good in person. If I wouldnt have bought my new truck I would have defitnetly looked at trying to get one of these.

BTW, I dont know where they were going, they both had paper tags and driving out of the city so I dont know if they were going to display at a dealer or were coming from an auto show or what but they were defitnetly there.

I saw three of the new HD trucks last week. They where all blacked out and had all the logos taken off of them. There was one mega cab cummins one mega hemi and one crew cab hemi. They had a bunch of computer stuff inside of them.

03silvertj

Very true, but if Dodge is allowing a scheduled delivery of august, it must be when they will be built. However because I will not be home in August I chose to take delivery in November. Perks of being in the U.S. Military! :gr_patrio

The earliest I could select for delivery was 15 August through Exchange New Car Sales (basically a way for deployed Military to get great prices on new vehicles) http://www.encs.com/ and it is a guaranteed delivery date. So if they are guaranteeing 15 aug, it mus be correct.

I would assume that most of you getting a HD are probably getting the CTD, but I think I'll stick with the Hemi because I dont tow that much; just a 6000 pound boat short distances. What I really need is the extra room of a CC plus a 6.5 or 8ft bed, something you can't get with a 1500. Currently I have a 02 1500 QC stock 20in wheels. How do you think the ride will compare with the new 2500 without a load?

I think the new Hemi will be a good fit for these trucks, especially in the Power Wagon.

I was driving home from work today driving behind, then next to an HD mule. It was actually a 4500 or 5500 with the 19.5 in. wheels with the fender flares on the front with the wider axle. Truck looked odd from the rear, as it was an 08' bed but I could tell the truck sat a lot higher than a 3500, not to mention the black tape covering the Ram head on the tailgate and the M plate it was wearing.lol

The bed was factory gloss black, while the cab was flat black with a black grill and chrome bumper. Weird lookin air meter or whatever the heck it is mounted on the roof, and of course a dashboard full of electronics. For as much as I wanted to get pics of this, it just wasn't safe enough to do while driving.

This truck was a BAD ASS BEAST!!!! It looked like it came straight out of a Mad Max movie. THUNDERDOME!!THUNDERDOME!! LOL

I love living in Michigan, so now on the list of sightings...Dodge Magnum wearing camo, 2 2009 preproducion rams, an HD in complete camo, and now 4500 HD in no camo. I've also seen a few Fords here and there.

Also, I drive by the transport lot down on Jefferson and I believe its Conner and saw tons of the New Rams awaiting first delivery to the dealerships last year. I was just down that way on Thursday and caught a glimpse of a few of the B5 Blue Challenger R/T Classic.

Any news on whether the PW is getting the diesel?

I haven't seen anything. People were hoping for the 5.0 Diesel that is suppose to be in the 1500's, but I think that motor is delayed until 2011 (not sure on the date). I don't see the 6.7 CTD because of it's weight, plus there is no room for a winch behind the bumper with the cooler on the CTD's.

There is a Silver 3rd Generation Ram CTD with a Kore Suspension System and 40" tires on it, with a winch that is mounted into the bumper. It's a custom setup, and while they claim it's a Power Wagon, there was some discussion on the truck being a Power Wagon because lack of skid plates, among some other things that looked like they might be missing.

03silvertj
05-19-2009, 08:55 PM
Yes I have already ordered it. Already made the down payment, and already making payments. Just waiting delivery in November, it's they way this new car sales thing works.

I do have the options already selected, and as far as colors go I wanted black so that is what I got. So whatever they are calling it now. I know they have a new blue, but most everything else is typical Chrysler colors. Like I said though, didn't really look at them.

Kinda strange to me. If indeed it is already ordered then the delivery date should be end of August at the latest. My 08 was ordered the day Chrysler started taking orders, June 1st 2007. It was on the line on July 11th and off the line on July 13th and I took delivery in Canada on August 2nd 2007

03silvertj
05-19-2009, 09:18 PM
I selected a delivery date of November 5th because I am deployed, and will not be home in August. Like I said in other posts, August 15th was the earliest I could take delivery.

Ram3500Dually
05-19-2009, 09:22 PM
Actually I just looked and it was June 12th was the day I ordered (the first day you could order) and there was no price on anything yet. That was when the options sheet came out. On June 28th was when it went into D1 status. Even then there was no price sheet on it.
I guess I will be at my dealer tomorrow morning finding out why my truck hasn't been ordered yet.

It could be just a dealership thing. I spoke to two different dealers, and both gave me the run around. I then went to this overseas car dealership thing for soldiers and to my surprise they said they could place the order for an 2010 model. Also at a better price than I could get at a dealer.

Good luck talking to your dealer tomorrow, hopefully you will be able to order your truck!

Ram3500Dually

Just talked to my connection in Auburn Hills. There are NO ORDERS for 2010 HD being taken at this time. Your dealer is hedging on ordering it when the time comes and is holding your money.

03silvertj
05-20-2009, 08:54 PM
It could be true, but I can only speak about what I know.... I don't have any connections in Auburn Hills. I don't really care though because it isn't like I am trying to get the first truck off the line, I just want a truck.:gr_patrio

I would care about something I am already making payments on..........

03silvertj
05-20-2009, 09:35 PM
Why? I will just have it paid off sooner. It is more like increasing the down payment than anything else. The way this company works is you actually don't have to pay a dime until you take delivery of the truck, or you can start paying right away. Which essentially increases your down payment and reduce the size of your actual payments when you take delivery.

Ram3500Dually
05-20-2009, 09:47 PM
So they are financing it too?

03silvertj
05-21-2009, 04:58 AM
No, it is very strange the way everything works. It is not a "normal" way to buy a car. Website www.encs.com. Anyway, I have financing from elsewhere, and the down payment has already been made. Essentially as far as Chrysler is concerned (whenever the order goes in if it hasn't already) the truck is payed for. My financial obligation is with the company I financed the truck with.

Yea, they are really good deals! You should just volunteer yourself out of retirement, get deployed and order a truck! I didn't know they had an option to purchase vehicles that people had changed there minds on. Oh well...

Has it been finalized what plants are going to be building what HD's. If I remember right some were made here in the states but most came from the plant in Mexico. I was wondering what they had planned for the new Gen 4 HDs, since the Nissan deal seemes to be out the window. At one time i thought the HDs were all going to get built here in the states, and mexico was going to build the Nissans, I wonder what the plans are now.

Joint projects with Nissan end
Posted Thursday, Aug 27, 2009, 2:03 pm

Nissan and the Chrysler Group LLC today announced a mutual agreement to end three OEM vehicle-supply projects announced last year.

For the past several months, teams from both companies have been studying the viability of the projects in light of significant changes in business conditions since the projects were announced in January and April of 2008.

Today, it was decided it was in the best interests of both companies to end the projects.

Be careful what you wish for. In the early 80's, when I was stationed in Germany, we drove our military vehicles down what was called " the Berlin Corridor", through East Germany to west Berlin, past checkpoint Alpha & past checkpoint Bravo. We stayed 2-days & went through checkpoint Charlie to east Berlin ( not w/military vehicles) on a tour. The tour guide said they had to pay cash-up front for a vehicle & then wait 7 years to receive it w/no choice of color or anything. We are getting more like the communist's & the Soviet Union everyday. F*#% THAT !!!!!
