My 76 d100's driver side door wont open so I have to reach out the window to open the door. Secondly my window crank does not work either so I have to manually pull the window up and down by hand. I have not yet pulled the panel to get inside. Should this be a pretty easy fix? And are the parts available that I might need? Thought I would ask before I go tearin things apart. Makes it a lot easier when I ask you guys because I dont have to spend 3 hrs guessing on what does what and then break something else in the process.

So far as the door latch, take the inside panel off and have a look... It could be something as simple as a clip or rod fell off the mechanism. You can buy new door handles/latches though.
As for the window, sounds like the register came undone from the metal rail/channel on the bottom of the window.. (There are little wheels that go into the channel, that slide back and forth while pushing the window up/down) That's an easy fix.
If the register is broken, you can buy new ones of those too... But you might want to wait till you get a replacement door, before fixing one you're going to trash anyway...;)

Just a comment...I've removed and replaced the regulators from my '73 D100 twice while preparing it for painting, and I'd rather take a beating than have to do it again. Because of limited access holes in the door, they are a gold plated, prize-winning, certifiable, pain in the %#*@ to install.

yeah i figured since i am getting new doors that I dont want to put time or money in these peices of junk. But I figured if it was quick and cheap that it would be worth it to fix it until I find doors cause my search is not going well. In Ohio it is freezing and with every bump I hit my window goes down more and more. I guess if I fix the door handle I can wedge something in the window to keep it from moving. Anyone have any pics of how the inner door looks or works. I cant find my haynes.

Really? I've done it a couple times and didn't think it was that bad at all...
Drilling the rivets out, was not that bad... Replacing them with 1/4" nuts/bolts wasn't that bad either... Yeah, one of them is a real PITA to get to, but I've done a lot worse things....

Does your crank handle spin freely? Mine did, turned out to be the regulator. Not too bad to replace. My 76 had bolts instead of rivets.
My door wouldn't open about a few months back turned out the clip popped off the control rod. Easy fix, I think they shrink over the years and become brittle. I replaced mine. Hasn't done it since.

Regulators are a piece of cake! They are also cheap for those trucks too! Its a 15 minute job.

I'ts probably what bherder was saying then. One of the wheels has popped out of that metal channel. Check that before you buy a new regulator.

BY saying hung up, do you mean it jams or does it crank and not go anywhere? If it jams, then yes check the rollers. If it cranks but doesnt move then check the regulators. If the regulators are bad, the teeth will be worn down.

well the door issue was the latch was missing a part. I gotta find a latch now. no junkyards have this year truck around me. What year latches will fit? I have a piece of cable tied to the outer door handle mechanism to yank on and open from the inside. Also the regulators teeth were very worn. Dont really want to put new regulators in cause i need new doors. guess when i find the doors i could always pull the regulators out cause chances are the doors i find wont be in mint condition.

well i found some doors today. FINALLY. I only bought one to start with to make sure it worked ok. I got them of a late 70's ramcharger. The door panel is much larger so im not sure if it will fit. Looks like it may hit my bench seat. but thats the least of my worries right now. It has power win & dl but my truck is manual. How hard would it be to hook those up so they work. figured i would just have to wire them to a power right?

I found some doors today at the local U-pull salvage yard. :D Off a 84 Royal SE along with possibly the tailgate and the bench seat that I was there looking for in the first place. And in great condition. :D
