ok my old dodge hasnt had a radio in it for years. I decided today to put an extra cd player i had layin around in it. Well all worked well but it wont remember the stations i put in it and u have to hit the power button to turn it on. I figured remote wire but i tried puttin it on the pos. and ground but no fix. Then I thought accesory wire but I have no extra wires in my dash for this. Another thing is I shoved 2 old speakers in the dash for now. I noticed there was only 1 spot where the truck had a speaker originally (in the middle of the top of the dash). I just wanted to know if any of u guys came up with a good place to put some speakers. thanks

You need to run a continous hot wire to I think the yellow wire on the cd player. You can run one from the fuse box just test to see which fuses stay hot all the time.

My dodge had original speaker locations in the doors. If you don't have any, then you will have to make some. Figure the correct hole size for your speakers and don't go by the actual size... you will need it to be smaller than the speaker size of course. Then, since these doors are light metal. Drill a hole big enough to fit some tin snips into and use the snips to cut the hole. That, or you can make the big and use a speaker adapter plate for the speaker to fit. Which is what I did. I have 6 1/2 speakers in the holes that were for I think 6 x 8 speakers, by using a speaker adapter plate from Crutchfield. Works really great. As to it remembering stations and such... Do you have the yellow wire connected to the ignition turn on? Black to any ground and red to the battery. Should work then. Hope that all helps you.

Red is ignition feed, yellow is constant hot (battery feed, for the memory), black is ground (obviously lol). W/o a constant hot hooked up, it will not remember stations or audio settings. I have always mounted my speakers in the doors and/or behind the seats. There's really not anywhere else, only other place is in the bottom of the dash, you could cut holes for them there. Not sure how well they would sound there, haven't tried yet. Doors make good bass though :D 6x9's work good there.

I like the way you think, Speed. I have them in doors and behind the seats also. :D As to the wiring my truck is wired yellow iginition and red for the hot wire. Of course it is different in others.

On the radio or the truck? I don't think I've seen a CD player yet that had a yellow ignition and red battery wire. Must be an oooolld one :D And in my Club Cab I had a pair of 10" Concept subs w/ a 700W Alpine amp in a box behind the seat :) As well as 6x9 door speakers and a Sony CD head unit. Sounded pretty good, not great but good. Had plenty of bass anyway lol.

Yeah, I have 2 12's behins the seat with just a minor 200 watt amp. with a jvc cd player that I just got for Christmas:D:D I have jvc 6 1/2's in the doors. I am going to switch out the generic 12 inch speakers I have for some kicker 12 inch and probably a higher amp, but for now the set up I have now is good. :D
As for the wiring, I took another look, and the hot is yellow and the red is ignition. I got them backwards... ooops Anyways.
