I am taking my exhaust studs off so I can put header bolts in and I have tried loosening the studs with vice grips and they wont budge. Whats the easiest way to remove the studs. I sthere a tool for this?

Heat em up with an acetylene torch and then wiggle em out...

pb blaster, torch...more pb blaster...I also have a stupid wrench...back in the 80's they made this sort of universal wrench not much good for bolts but i found that it is great on studs...very slim and the more pressure you put on it the harder it works for you. Until you break the stud....

If you heat anything direct the heat around the stud into the head; try NOT to concentrate the heat onto the stud or we'll be reading a question about extracting a busted one.

I like to leave the studs, I say that without having actually worked on a big block. I know that keeping the studs on small blocks make it alot easier to hang the gasket and place the header, and the studs are in water ports so they are gonna be less likely to leak.
