im having trouble with my girlfriends 02 stratus sedan. The original problem she was having with it was in the early cold mornings pulling out of the driveway in reverse was ok, but when it was put into drive it would take a while to actually engage the drive gear. i checked the tranny level and it was a little low so i added mopar+4 and its seems to be doing fine as far as that goes.
Now she says that this problem always occurs when she gets the oil changed on the car, but when u are slowing down from 30mph down to around 20mph or so it wants to downshift hard and jerks a little bit. she said that something has to be reset when they change the oil. or at least thats what they have told her in the past. I've never heard of something besides the oil light needing to be reset for an oil change.
can anyone please clue me in on what might be the problem here.
thanx in advane

Was that the engine oil or trans oil that was changed? I had an 04 Stratus that did the same thing after trans fluid and filter were changed.

My Stratus was doing the same thing very randomly. The dealer said he had to reprogram the computer and that the trans fluid was okay. They did the reprogram and it still behaved the same way. I had nothing to lose and changed the trans fluid myself. the transmission had some air in the system when I fired it up and would not properly downshift everytime, every gear. The dealership would have to charge me to program the car again because I had caused the newest problem even though car was still under warrantee. Your problem sounds similar to mine, but not the same. Good luck, I wish I could have been more help.
