I've replaced motor/regulator assemblies on several cars. I got to replace one in my 2001 van a year or so ago and today I got to do the same procedure on my father-in-laws 2003 van. The process isn't too bad but I hate how the motor is attached in the door. I end up trying to use vise grips to hold the rubberized nut thing on the backside. That didn't work so hot today and I was trying to cut the screw heads off and finally just cut the plastic tabs and then did some pulling to get the screws out. Is there a better way?

Thanks!

Those rubberized nuts are a pretty retarded solution on these cars IMO. What worked on a couple of mine was to just pull the motor toward me as hard as I could while unscrewing the bolt -- that extra pressure on the nuts worked on a couple of them, but still had to break one off and use a different solution when putting the motor back on the door. Really dumb thing the engineers did there if you ask me.
