Anyone have any ideas on belt squeak? I have a 3.3 with a new belt, tentioner, and idle pulley, with the new aftermarket style double grooved belt ( so it wont fall off) It was ok for about 3 months, now it is squeaking again. No problems found with any other pulleys, or alignment of pulleys. Belt noise was prevelent with old belt as well ( one sided groove. ) Mabie Ill just drive it in the river???

perhaps not the belt or tensioner/idler pulley making noise
I changed my bely and idler and tensioner and still have a chirp
could be alternator or p/s pump or the a/c compressor
I took the belt off and turned the units - no sign of binding or roughness or noise but it is difficult to be sure when there is no load on the apparatus.
you could take a long of of heater hose and use it like a stethoscope to see where the noise is coming from; the long piece of hose keeps your fingers out of harm's way

Might just be a bad belt even though pretty new.

omg i have the same problem! i have replaced everything...some things 4 times...new p\s pump, alt, water pump, a/c bypass, double groove upgrade.....sand blasted water pump pulley to ensure it was clean.....i am freaking out! it is sooo loud. it was fine for about 3 miles of normal driving them it came back. i am also ready to set fire to my 97 3.3 van...i have spent so much money on something so ridiculous.

i finally figured my problem out.....i have replace everything several times. i also have the upgrade kit with the double sided grooved belt and pulleys. i removed my a/c compressor so i have the bracket with a pulley.
come to find out after everything i did it was probably a bad a/c clutch but no matter what i changed it kept squeeking.
what i did was change the pulley on my a/c delete kit to a smooth pulley with no edges. when i started the van up the belt moved towards the engine 1/4 of an inch and stopped squeeking. i removed the delete bracket and cut 1/4 of an inch off of where the pulley mounts and put the original pulley back on.....now it is all set.
what i learned is that no matter how much the pulleys look aligned you can never be sure. time to purchase a laser alignment tool.
i hope this might help someone in the future....i went crazy with other people....we can build drag race cars to run in the 8's but couldnt stop a belt squeek...it was torture.....good luck guys

After 3 tries, I pulled the idler pulley off again, which was new with the kit. I had it shimmed out too far, with the stock spacer, from the original pulley. So the belt was in a bind, and therefore squeaked like mad. Thanks for the replies, it helped. Paul
