Hello. I bought this minivan for my wife a while back, knowing it would not start. The mechanics at the shop the previous owner took it to weren't worth spitting on.

The van had a cracked flexplate to say the least, and was throwing a code for intermittent crankshaft signal. Before I took the transaxle out to check the flexplate, I replaced the crank sensor, cam sensor, TPS, and grabbed an extra PCM from a junkyard.

Now that I found the cracked flexplate, replaced it, and thought I was almost done, another problem arose. Now I'm getting a code for faulty camshaft signal. I know the sensor is good, I just replaced the damn thing. I did (even with a cracked flexplate) have the van running at one point in time, even drove it 20 miles.

As far as I know the wiring to the cam sensor is good, I put a multimeter on the plug and got power from all 3 prongs with the key on. Isn't one supposed to be a ground?

Thanks for any help.

Tan/Yellow is signal
Orange is Supply Power
BlackK/LightBlue is ground

On the sensor's connector facing the connector with the locking tab on top, the far right is the 8volt supply, the middle is the grond and the left is the return signal. Adjust accordingly for the connector going to the PCM.

Note that the supplied 8 volts also goes to the crankshaft position sensor and vehicle speed sensor

Note that the ground provides ground also to upstrean heated oxygen sensor, downstream heated oxygen sensor, crankshaft position sensor, throttle position sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor, knock sensor, intake air temp sensor, and vehicle speed sensor.

If you are not measuring ground in middle position, then there might be problem with any one of these 9 sensors or wires between them. Check these before suspecting and replacing PCM.
