How many miles on her? Ever changed plugs (100,00 miles on V6) or PCV, has fuel filter been changed (every 60,000 miles), how often do yo chage the transmission fluid and filter, and last, have you tired a key dance or gone to Auto Zone to see if she is throwing any codes?

10-12mpg in the city during cold weather and very short trips wouldn't be unexpected but that may not be the situation where you are getting such low mileage. When you say you get 15mpg on the highway, how fast are you driving as that can make a huge difference in the readings? I would also check the calibration of your odometer on a measured mile on the interstate as well as be sure your tire pressure is correct.
It is possible you have a lazy O2 sensor if you have high miles or just plain bad sensor.

only 28,000 miles. dealer replaced 02 sensors. very easy on gas pedal. never checked odometer for accuracy???. I am a gm service manager, so all tire pressures etc have been checked numurious times.. thanks for your input. mark g.

Other long shot possibilities
- Brake problem so increased friction - check how freely front and back wheels turn.
- Transmission does not shift into overdrive; less mpg on highway - check tachometer when gears are shift to see shift to overdrive
- Bad front/back wheel bearings - check how freely front and back wheels turn.

You really need to get her coded (as service manager don't you have access to a a scanner) too many variables here, IAC,TPS, stuck TB butterfly. My '96 3.3 with over 100,000 miles gets consistent 17-18 MPG city and 23-24 mpg at 70-75 MPH on the road.

I have scanned it till I am blue in the face. No codes, tps,o2sensor,,,all looks good. Have correct tire size & pressure. throttle body super clean & not sticking. have guaged tach for proper shifting & it seems to be normal compared to other like van w/same options. going to check odometer for accuracy???? thanks for all replies

Mite just be typical. My 06 3.3 with 43,000 miles gets the about the same. I have got as good as 17 on the Hwy before. Maybe there is something wrong with mine as well, don't know.

That just seems extremely low. We have the 3.8L in our 2001 and consistently get 22-26mpg on the highway, depending on speed and wind. I know some makes and models of tires don't get as good mileage as others but that certainly can't account for this big of a difference.
