Did these trucks (77) ever came with spring cushion for the coil originally?

It seems that some did others didn't in the van world. (Same suspension)
My '71 B-300 didn't but my '78 B-100 did.

Joe,

I have never noticed them on my truck, but then I have never really looked -- nor have I rebuilt the front end.

Why do you ask? Do you have a noise which you suspect is being caused by the absence of spring cushions? I know that my D-150 groans mightily when I dial in a full-lock turn and simultaneously generate the least bit of travel in the front end components.

Funny, but I somehow never associated that noise with lack of spring cushions -- though I suppose that it could be.

I am asking b/c I am getting ready to rebuild the front end with poly bushings. Just thought that the top of the coil might benefit from a poly cushing as well, but not if it is going to add extra height.

Joe,

I would re-think the use of polygraphite bushings. I have heard bad things about getting them to fit right and, more importantly, use of the bushings seems to result in harsh ride and a tendency to "shake the vehicle apart" in normal highway use.

I don't know if the use of spring cushions would help to reduce this problem . . . but I sure wouldn't use 'em if they are made of polygraphite, too.

As I understand it, the poly bushings were designed for racing use wherein stiff handling is critical. Why they would even sell them for trucks, I don't know . . .

I have Polygrapghite bushings on my '71 van and there great. A increase in noise on lane reflectors.... But who drives on them continiously?
I did have to modify the Strut Rod bushing to fit, everything else fit perfectly.
(Full-lock noise when the wheels travel is caused by the steering lock of the control arm rubbing the same on the spindle.)
