Can anyone detail any changes that you know of or any place that I can look that will explain some factory options that aren't "turned on" with a new Durango.
For example, I know that you can have the programming changed for the "easy access" exiting. Basically this moves the seat back when you unlock the car and also upon exiting.
Also, the rearview mirror option that will lower when you put the vehicle in reverse...
Any others??

I'm wondering the same thing, specifically the sunroof - in my old car it would close automatically when you turned the ignition off, but on the durango 04 it just stays open. I tend to forget it's open, and I know sooner or later it's going to rain!

Does the dealership have to do this entry/exit programming? Also with the reverse mirrors? And how much do they charge?

The dealer does have to do some of the settings. The option for the mirrors to move when you back up is a joke. We had ours set up and the drivers side moves about a quarter of and inch and the passanger side it just barely moves. I dont know if the dealer did something wrong or not, but they told us that was it. SUCK SUCK SUCK!

According to the card that was hanging on the rear view mirror in my vehicle, the following are dealer programmable features in addition to the tilt reverse mirrors & easy in-out features:
*Keyless entry- illuminate headlamps for 90 seconds when your vehicle unlocks(factory setting off)
*keyless entry- flash turn signals twice when vehicle unlocks(factory setting- on)
*Headlamp delay time- if you shut off your vehicle before you turn off your headlamps(factory setting- 90 seconds)
*Power accessory delay- how long your vehicle power is available after you turn off your ignition in set increments up to one hour(factory setting- 10 minutes)
*Illuminated approach- Activate interior vehicle lighting when vehicle is unlocked(factory setting- 90 seconds)
There are also other features that you can program yourself depending on how you want it. Check out your owner manuals for these. It tells you how to do them.
Hope this helps.

The list is very large. I had mine programmed to turn on the headlights with the windsheild wipers. Even the owners manuals and the dealers do not have lists of all the possiblilities. The only way is to have the technician hook up the CAN B code reader to the diagnostic connecter. Have him go the the correct menu and they all appear. It is simple to edit and change them at that time.

I'm going Monday to have the local dealership turn on the tilt mirrors/reverse feature. They're charging me $25. They said it's the first time they've done it so it may take them a while. In response, I told them since I was the guinea pig, it should be free - there was a bit of silence from the other end of the phone...
They also said the vehicle had to have memory seats before this option could work (basically, you have to have a Limited).
I'll let you folks know how it turns out.

Well, I had my reverse/park tilt mirror feature turned on today.
First, the good news. I wasn't charged for the mirror activation. Maybe it was because I got an oil change at the same time. Maybe because this was something they can charge to my warranty (it was labeled warranty under "charges") or because (get ready for the bad news) it really doesn't do much at all.
Someone mentioned above that the tilt was very small, and I can second that. I'm not sure it was really worth the time I waited to get this done, however I have found it difficult to back into parking spaces and see the white lines for the spaces and I'm hoping this will help ever-so-slightly.
If your dealership says they have to charge you to have this activated, I wouldn't recommend having it done. If it's free, go for it.

I don't think the low degree of tilt is necessarily a bad thing. On my Bimmer I ended up running into the motorcycle carrier on my truck as the tilt is too much. When backing up, I like to see a bit more curb but not enough to pick out the blades of grass!

My mirror tilt is huge--too much, and then it does not return to the original position, requiring readjustment each time. A real aggravation. I have read the manual and reporgrammed the position of the mirror numerous times to no effect. The passenger mirror used to tilt and return and now doesn't move. Exit seat slide back has also stopped functioning. Fine with me. Will be going back to the dealer on the mirror challenge soon. CB3
