transmission shift pattern

I have a 87 dodge ram 2wheel drive. It has a 318 with a manual 3speed trans. I picked up a used trans from a 85. can anyone tell me the shift pattern for the three speed?

On the floor reverse should be front-left, 1st rear-left, 2nd front-right, 3rd rear-right with neutral in the middle.
On the column also known as 3 on the tree in a van reverse is with the lever near the wheel and rear, 1st to the front (up), 2nd is down with the lever to the rear (down), 3rd is lever up.

you sure its not 3speed w/od or as i call it 4 speed.
