I am considering a set of Flowtech headers for my truck. Does anyone have experience with this particular set? Part number is 33500LT. Best price I have seen is from CarParts.com. $229

They look almost exactly like my Hooker#9001 full tube equal length Truck headers which are 1 5/8 into 3" collectors. I think the FT's are 1 5/8 into 2 1/2" They are probably going to be the same way, cheap, "tingy" and with thin 5/16 flanges. The FT's look ceramic coated are they? If not get em coated. They do increase power and flow and do what they are designed to do. But, with thin construction, rust prevention is key. I would opt to have mine pro-coated by Jet-Hot or Airborne coatings in ceramic, both inside and out to prevent rustout. No 'paint' I have ever used works as well as ceramic coating. They are very easy to remove/replace, just slide em in and bolt on with 5/16 fasteners. I use ARP.

They are ceramic coated. I agree that the flanges look thin. I'd be worried if they were on my motor. I'd want to check and torque the bolts often. For the $229 I can get them for it might be worth it. However, I've never owned a Flowtech product so I don't know what to expect. If I spend a bit more I can get a set made by Hooker or Hedman.

Dont expect the Hooker's to be any better. They are the same thin flanges and tubing. Being Ceramic coated they might just work out OK and the price is reasonable. The hookers are over 400.00! uncoated!

With my truck's initial buying price being just $650, I have a hard time parting with several hundred dollars for headers. I can do a cam swap for less and probably come out better on horsepower.
