Hello
I am going to start rewiring my 73 w200 . I am going to use alot of relays . I am going to run a wire from the starter relay to a distribtion block to power the relays . I was wondering what gauge of wire should i use to power the distrbtion block and what amp of fuse should i use ? Thanks again for the help .

You could take the scientific approach and add up all the amps from the various accessories running off the relays, then have a look at one of those tables that lists the ratings for various gauges. I would think 10 gauge at least, maybe even 8. Wouldn't go smaller than 10 in any case.
You running the stock ammeter setup like me? If so, consider feeding your distribution block directly from the alternator, that way all those amps aren't running through the dash. When I rewired my headlamps with relays, for example, I ran 10 gauge SXL from the output stud on the alternator through an inline 30 amp glass fuse to the relays mounted on the passenger side fender.
Also, if you decide to keep the ammeter rather than doing the voltmeter conversion like most guys do, definitely run the wire directly through the firewall rather than using the lame factory bulkhead connector, and make damn sure every terminal in that circuit is clean, tight, and bulletproof (sorry if I'm stating the obvious).

Have to agree with Meguticook, a 10GA wire should be plenty thick enough to handle the amperage and current flow without getting too hot. I think the 8GA would be a little overkill though even if you are running everything at the same time.

Heh heh heh .... Just call me 'Mr. Overkill' :D
I'd use 6, but probably because I have a whole bunch of it and the copper lugs... ;)
My Rule of Thumb is, that you'll never ever go wrong by going too big, but can be in a world of hurt by going too small.

Hello
Thanks for the info . I was wondering if i could use a 30 or 40 amp breaker instead of a fuse ? Thanks .
