hello everyone. I'm new to this site so ill give everyone a quick briefing. i have a 1978 dodge w150 with a 400 in it that i am almost done restoring. i have a few questions for anyone with a similar vehicle...first, i have the stock brackets for the alternator but can not seem to figure out where they bolt up to on the motor. does anyone have a picture they could send me?also, my vehicle has the tapered drivers side valve cover so the brake booster has clearance. does anyone know where i can get one of these in chrome? i'll get pictures of my truck up soon for you guys. any help would be great!!

Not to hijack your thread but I am having the same issue. I have a 360 in mine though. The first alternator wouldnt fit in the space and hit the head. The second alt fits in the brackets but now I cant get the spacer in there and it seems to sit back too far so the pully wont line up with the water pump pulley. Mine is a 76 D100 360.

78W150,

I have a '78 D-150 with a 400. I am pretty busy, but I will try to take some photos of how the alternator fits on mine and post them in the next few days (if another DodgeTalker doesn't beat me to it). The absence of 4WD on my truck should not affect the positioning or the attachement of the alternator, as far as I know.

I have no idea regarding chromed, tapered valve cover availability.

Jeff

Does this help. This one is a 440 but the brackets are the same.
