i have been to all the part stores in town and no one can get a rotor for me. all are "out of stock" with no expected delivery time. the one they gave me was just the rotor. and anyone who knows a 77 power wagon knows that the rotor and inner hub are one piece. anyone help? i would like to put the front end back in so i can continue my progect. thanks to all.:bawl:

Actually, (Just to clear the air) depending on what setup you have, even on a 4x4 there was either a one piece hub/rotor setup (EXPENSIVE to replace) or a detachable rotor ... Fairly CHEAP. What the difference is (Other than the obvious) I don't know... All I know is, I have the replaceable rotor set up, (79') so when the day comes I have to replace rotors, I'll be good...
(B-300? You seem to know about these things, what's up with the difference?)
I know the one piece hub/rotor assemblies are pretty expensive (As in $26.00 ain't even gonna come close..) ... I'm guessing that your autopartsgiabt.com part is just the rotor. And probably 'Made in China' which you probably oughta' avoid anyway....
NAPA ( Even though on the expensive side) should be able to get any part they currently stock. Maybe the counterman just didn't feel like ordering it.
Been there, done that.... Even if it's gotta come from the other side of the country and you have to wait a week, they should still be able to get it....

I was born with this front end!
Do you want just the rotor or the hub and rotor assembly. Do you have 5 lug or 8 lug wheels?
Both the rotor and the hub are available seperately or as an assembly.
A new rotor can be pressed onto the old hub.
FYI...DO NOT DEAL WITH AUTOPARTSGIANT.COM...they are listed as the worst of mankind by the BBB and me!

The 3/4 ton rotor listed in post #2 has 8 lugs according to the specs. even though a 5 bolt rotor is pictured. (Confusing when the specs. and picture don't match.)
The 1/2 ton is for 5 lug all wheel drive. The type with a large nut in the center and no unlocking hub. The rotor of this type was sold seperately from the hub from Kragen years ago.... My brothers converted A-100 van used this type rotor. You do have to drive the studs out as they hold the hub to the rotor

I replaced rotors on my 77 power wagon several years ago and the rotors and inner hub are not one piece. I needed a really good bearing puller to get it all apart, but it was easy to reassemble everything.

Ya know, I was thinking they were a two-piece thing, but being as I have not seen everything, I didn't want to blurt out something wrong/stupid... ;););)

ok the rotors you can buy at autozone car quest and napa all have a large diameter hole in the center (probably about 1 inch bigger than what i have). 5 bolt pattern.the rotor and inner hub are one piece. splined in the inner hub. i have yet to try to take it appart and from the looks of it all i can do is puond out the studs. my inner hub is trash(bearings and races fell out). so i need 2 rotors and one inner hub. and i hope most of you know that about half the parts we buy are made in china or pakistan pr where ever else.

The studs hold the rotors and hubs together. so yes they will need pounding or pressing out to seperate the parts an to to reassemble.... If you can get a rotor and hub I would go that route otherwise it's most likely a trip to the junkyard to find a hub. The rotors my brother bought from Kragen were Bendix and made in USA.
We had the same problem and had to get a hub for his van when we built it and were lucky to find one already pulled at the Pick-n-pull.

I don't think we're still clear on if you have a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton?

When you take it apart you will notice that there is a steel plate(5 lug) on top the rotor. This is here to keep everything together via the splines on the wheel studs. The rotors you have seen are probably correct...take the hub/rotor asm apart and then compare the rotors at the parts stores.

The studs have to be driven or pressed out. The rotor must be supported and the inside of the hub pressed thru the bearing.

That's why I always have a machine shop do the work and replace all studs with new ones.

A good press (10 ton) may cost a few hundred$, but it will pay for it's self quickly if you have a 4x4 truck that needs work. It's a great investment if you have room for it.
