my 82 d150 came bare bones nothing on it(was ordered in 82 by local state college so no added frills except the opt 3.55 gearing,i have original build sheet),anyway its a/6 no p/s or p/b,was wondering how hard it would be to convert to p/s & p/b. If there is a write up i may have missed it. if i had choice i'd prob take p/s over p/b but be nice to have both:D. thx, scott

I have added power brakes to both of my vans.. On the '78 it was as simple a getting a booster from a junkyard van along with the hardware. (There was an adaptor bolted to the firewall which when removed the booster bracket bolted to the same holes). On the '71 van I had to drill these holes.
As for power steering You will need the brackets and pulleys along with the pump, plumbing, steering box and columm. It's a bit more work but can be done.

Okay Bigdog, I used to work at a mopar-centric junkyard, and we sold "kits" to do the p/s conversion all the time. Not that big a deal.
You don't need to replace the column, just the bottom section from the connector to the steering gearbox. Just underhood stuff, not under dash stuff. You do need the brackets to mount the pump. If it's a slant 6, then there is a single-sheave pulley that bolts onto the crank pulley.
The p/s conversion is a straight-forward job. I recommend going to a you-pull-it yard and find a slant-6 w/ps, take it all. This will also cure that old wore-out manual steering gear you have on your truck ( I know it's wore out. all the manuals are wore out...)
I used to do this conversion all the time ( well, it was 15 years ago...), I don't remember any big problems. It can be done in your driveway.

BTW, when you get in there and find there is no bolt holding your harmonic balancer on, not to worry. Most don't have one. No idea why not.
