Hello everyone. I have a 93 caravan with an overheating problem. About 155K, 3.3l, and recently installed ac compressor. I have checked the relays that I can find, the sensor is working I believe because the gauge warns me when overheating occurs. The problem is that the fan is a four wire and simply hooking up the +/- to the battery is not working. Is there a way to test this fan. Or am I missing a relay somewhere. I have checked all those on the the fender wells, both sides. I called a dealer service dept and they mentioned something of a relay located underneath, but I was not able to find it. Also I have not yet been able to locate the fan switch to test it either.:help:

Have you owned the van since new? Is it possible someone removed the relay for some unknown reason? It definitely sounds like you are on the right track thinking you're missing a relay, 4 wires should be tied to a relay somewhere. You could try to (if you know what/how to do), hook up the wires to a relay and see if you can get power.

Thanks for the reply, went to a parts yards and yanked another one out, hooked it up and low and behold, the fan works. I just wanted to make sure the fan was the problem before I started throwing parts at it you know. But there was no definite way I knew of to check the fan itself as if it were a simple two wire unit. Once again thanks.
