Hi, I just got a 2000 Dodge Neon.... and it now needs a transmission fluid change and filter..... Question is what do I use? I cant seem to find ATF+4 in the stores like Autozone.. I know its just for Chrysler vehicles...... Could I use instead Amsoil Univerisal or would the Mopar ATF+4 from dealership be good too? And how often do you change the transmisson fluid and filter? I see on other web links about flushing out the transmission with like 12 quarts.. Can someone help me out with this ATF+4 transmission fluid question? Im a newbie........ Thanks....... :WHT:

Ok youve bought a new car the first thing you should buy now is a Haynes mannual from autozone. This book will not only show you where to drain it from and how to replace that filter, it will show you how to rebuild the whole dang car. I buy the book the day I buy a car.Dodge atx-4 trany fluid isprobablly a dealer item if autozone dont carry it.You can probablly find some aftermarket trans fluid that will be just as good if not better than the dodge brand.Peace out!

Amsoil ATF is an excellent choice. Amsoil ATF is also rated for up to three times the normal service interval.

Haynes Manual? PUh-lease....get yourself a Factory Service Manual if you want real info on your car!

Only thing Haynes got over a FSM...pretty pictures. 'ok' as a companion but not as a 'bible' for your car.

Of course, stating the obvious, Chrysler sells the stuff :)

I'm surprised that Autozone didn't have it.

hate to say it but you only want to use atf +4 in that tranny or you could be in BIG trouble. I'v seen plenty of neon trannys go out because of the "universal" oil ppl put in them. Also factory manual is the way to go!
