Okay so I just bought this deal of a van and i just want to know how hard would it be to install quad lamps on my van which has only dual.

The parts would fit but you would have to get the bulb plug connectors from a quad setup and wire those to work for low & high beam.

so basically what you are saying is ill have four headlamps running both high and low.

On low beam, it's just the top bulbs that are on. When you switch on the high beams all four come on. The top bulbs have both low and high filaments. The way the bezels and grilles attach are different on the older 4-bulb setup...at least my '85 is different from my '87 parts truck. (I wanted to go the other way on my '85; from 4-to-2). On the '85 quad setup, the grille and bezels are all one piece so you would have to get the whole unit. On the '87 two-bulb setup (which I think would be the same as a '93) the bezels are separate from the grille and have different screw attachments to the fender. You could get it to work OK but it's not a direct replacement; I spoke too soon about the parts fitting with no problems.
To make it interesting...maybe the '86's are quads but have the newer 3-piece setup??

85 was the last year for the 4-lamp design. It's not just a bolt-in swap. You'll need to cut the buckets out of a donor van and weld them into your van. Then of course you'll need the grille and trim, etc.

Aren't all the headlite buckets bolted in?? I've only removed them from my 89, and 91. But just looking, my 86 has bolt in buckets as well. All 3 of mine are 2 lamp setups though. Good luck and let us know how it turns out, if ya do it.

I've had my '85 with quads apart and they do bolt in. Some minor cutting was needed to get them to fit because of how the adjusters fit.

Ooops...yes the buckets themselves bolt-in..I guess what I meant was the actual core support is different as to how the buckets mount.

Aw, yes. I had to do the same when I set my buckets to the rear of the mount. This was done to set my headlites back a little further, for my Phantom grill, as pictured below.

So simply put remove my grille and bezel and the buckets which my lamps are mounted in will have to come from an 85 or earlier model, or am i pretty much better of winging it, I almsot wanna find someone who will trade me an 85 for my 93, Just because I wanna do much much more, my dream (if possible) would be to find a 85 with stock quads and this is off topic but i want the manual 4 speed with over drive then this is the ridiculous part mainly because im not sure if they make it but does mopar make a 318 hemi or am i a fool for thinking so?? But yeah my goal is to hook up a bit of a sleeper a van that pushes lower 10 s or better.

One major difference between a 93 and and an 85 is you would be going to a carbureted engine. There are plusses and minuses with either setup. Also, the 85's didn't have overdrive (if you stay with an auto). I don't know what all you'd have to do to a 318 in order to run 10's in a van but it would probably very expensive. With $4 gas, I hope it would just be a toy.

I think there was one company that made hemi heads for the LA blocks a few years ago. They were only a few thousand dollars though.:gr_patrio

Hey gas went down it aint 4 bucks round here lol and of course itd be a toy a big fat one at that. So wait what make a hemi and i thought i knew this but now im not so sure is just the heads??? I mean really, and Im sure with the right setup it would be too expensive to get a van with a 318 to run 10's it would mainly be taking the excess weight out of a van which im sure has like a ton literally of extras. I had an 85 so i know they dont have an overdrive i dont want an auto i want a 5 speed manual id like to keep the multiport engine but i doubt it will line up correctly as 85 to 93 there was alot of changes behiond the scenes, but does anyone know the name of the company that made hemi heads for the 318 or am I in the wrong forum for that??
