2003 Grand Shifts Differently

We just upgraded from a 97 Grand 3.3 to a 2003 Grand Sport 3.8. The newer van shifts very differently. It seems to shift prematurely, especially into OD, to the point where the engine gets boggy. A mechanic friend put his code reader on it and says it shifts fine. He says the transmission is shifting like this to conserve fuel. I say, give me my old tranny. I hate the way this trans shifts. Is there anything that can be done to change the way it shifts?

The basic answer is no , thats all done by the TCM . Unless there is a tcm update thats newer that addresses this, you would have to check with a dealer.

What I do if I'm driving around and I'm not going to be going over 50 I just drive it in 3rd gear and the performance is good .
