There must be a lot of stories out there as to cars we used to own and wished we still had. Or, maybe you found it again later and have an interesting story to tell.
Anyway, lets share your stories here:)

The car that got away was a 69 Super Bee. I lusted after the car from the time I was 8 years old until I bought it my senior year in high school. I was able to buy it because the owner was going to prison and needed to sell it fast. Bad for him, good for me! The car was Q5 turquoise w/ black bucket seat interior and a white butt stripe. It came optioned w/ a 383 Magnum, 4-speed, Ramcharger hood, PS, PB, and 3:23 sure grip. I drove the car for about 2 months and took it apart to add a Puple Shaft cam, Torker intake, Hooker Headers, Forged pistons, and Keystone Classic wheels with Goodyear Eagle ST tires. I had a lot of fun with this car as it was pretty fast and had a HUGE back seat. I brought the car with me to Western Montana and drove it daily for 6 years after high school. I even dated my wife in this car. I sold the car to a friend to purchase a 70 Challenger that I still own today. The Bee is parked only blocks from my house and has been restified. The car looks great and has won many awards.

I missed the car so much that, a few years ago, I purchased another 69 Super Bee. I still own this car. It came equipped w/ a 383 Magnum, 4-speed, Ramcharger hood, side scoops, 3:91 gears w/ heavy duty suspension, R6 red paint, and a black bench seat interior. The car now sports a 452ci engine, 4:10 Dana, bucket seats, and Weld Wheels. Otherwise it looks stock but runs pump gas 12:18's @ 113 mph. I have all the original parts to put it back to stock some day.

how about one that never was ?

my first car was almost a 1970 Challenger T/A - had a 340

It was yellow (with black stripes) and a black vinyl roof

but I decided at the last minute that there was too much rust for me to handle

but I'm sure it would have been fun to drive ;)

The first one: 1972 Dodge Challenger, built 383, slapstik auto, sublime with black '71 R/T stripes. I went to look at it and decided to buy it. The guy promised me he would hold it for me. I went to the bank and returned one hour later with cash in hand to find out he sold it. I was "not pleased." Moral of the story, always carry cash. Not too long after that, I found my Charger.
Car number 2 was a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport that I tried to trade my Charger for at Carlisle last year. I wanted it, because it was like the car my dad bought brand new and I grew up in (the color was even close, and the stripe kit was in the trunk.) The problem is that the owner thought it was worth more money than my numbers matching, orginal big block Charger, with 83,000 miles. This Dart was an original slant 6 car with who knows how many miles, now sporting a 360. I thought I was being generous by trying to trade even up.
I don't have any pics of the Challenger, but here's a pic of my Charger and the Dart I wanted.
