I came back from a long weekend trip and started up my car and heard a knocking sound coming from the passenger side of the engine, almost sounded like it was underneath the car. The oil and coolant were both low, I filled them up and did not hear the noise or have any other problem on my drive to work(about 70miles). I just wanted to hear some ideas people might have on what this noise could be. The car info is in my signature.

Rod bearing is starting to go.
Take the oil pan off and replace the bearings asap before you gouge the crank.

Kind of what I was afraid of. I'm trying to keep this as cheap as possible. I would most likely not replace or service the crank if it is scored. If the crank journal is scored, would there be any point in replacing the rod bearings?

No. They would not last.

Also want to make sure, I can change out the bearings without removing the engine. Correct? I do not have a way to lift the engine out. Also, should I change the gasket as well?
