Woke up Monday morning to find out that the owner of our local Dodge Dealer (Big O Dodge Greenville SC) had been killed in a auto accident of blunt force trauma. He was driving a super charged Challenger, he completely took out TWO telephone poles.

It is tough on his family because they lost his dad who was the original owner of the dealership in a motorcycle accident.

Tanner Odum was 30 years old, he always had a smile on his face, and was doing well with the dealership.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

It could take a few days for Greenville police to complete their investigation into the wreck that claimed the life of one of the Upstate’s most recognizable car dealers, a spokesman said today.

Thirty-year-old Michael Tanner Odum, of Big O Dodge Chrysler Jeep, died of blunt-force trauma to the head, neck and chest at 2:04 a.m. Monday, said Ken Coppins, Greenville County deputy coroner.

Among the investigation’s difficulties is that the pavement was wet at the time of the wreck, so there were no skid marks, Cpl. Jason Rampey said.

Police found Odum's body in an overturned 2009 Dodge Challenger on McDaniel Avenue near Cleveland Street, with two broken utility poles nearby, he said.

Investigators are considering whether speed and road conditions were factors, Rampey said.

Odum became president and principal of the dealership after his father, Michael Odum, who was the business’ previous owner, died in a January 2003 motorcycle wreck.
