Greeetings I am new. I am restoreing my 1973 Dodge Van. Raised all my children in this van and it means absolutley nothing to any one but me.:D Don't really care. Anyway getting parts for this project has been a real pain. Because it isn't a real high demand vehicle or mussle car no one wants to deal with it. I have begged and borrowed everything I have so far but I have run in the wall. I need marker lights to get me rolling again. I need two red and two amber marker lights. Does any one know where I can get these?? Please help. :help:

Darts, Dusters and many other Mopars shared the same side marker lights as the van. Same with the door handles.
I believe these are the markers that are on the 73's I had these same ones on my 77 Dodge Van. I got the complete marker light set off ebay for my 73 Duster this spring.
And welcome to Dodgetalk

Thank you for your feed back I really appreciate it. No one ever seems to appreciate the old!!! I do not have the old markler lights in hand however off the top of my head my old lights sit in a molded pocket and have a ground spade and one wire going to the lamp. Do you suggest changeing what I currently have? Your repose is real important!!

Do you mean the body indentation? Its been a long time and I don't have any pictures of my van when it was stock but I am pretty sure these lights are the same. The twist in socket from your lights should twist into these.

You could also use older Chevy Nomad van side markers. The screwed into the same holes as the stock ones if you could find them. Its what I used on my 77 back in the day.

I am also going to move this post to the Van section so others that are still into the vans may help you better :)

Well I am back I went home and looked at my marker lights and they are a bit different than say a dodge dart or later years vans. My marker lights screw on on the face to the body. One of the screw holes has a ground clip that attatches to the actual light assembly for ground. The van has a semi pocket for these light assemblies. I know there was a major change bady styling from 73-74. Can any one he:help me locate marker lights?:help:

Ram3500 is correct about the lights from dusters, darts, ect, all those cars side markers will fit your van. I needed one once for a 75 van, and got it off a 74 cuda.

Actually they're not a direct fit. The duster/dart side lights have two studs that insert through the body and a nut goes on the back. The van side lights get mounted with screws.
I suppose he could do the modification and drill for the studs then mount them with the nuts since those side lights are easier to find. The ground wire would also have to be extended to reach a part of the frame or other metal.

Does any one know where Vintage vans parts can be aquired? These marker lights are killing me. Actually two of the light are fine. My son told me just to eliminate them all to geather but I would rather not. Please advise.

Parts for these vans are readily available, with the exception of some of the side and rear door weatherstripping.
You need to get a PartsVoice.com account so you can search out the dealer/vintage parts suppliers inventory. The part #'s you are looking for are 3489895 - amber and 3489894 - red. NOS versions showed up at a number of sites around the US when I did a search. It appears that these items were similar or perhaps the same for Dodge trucks from 72-83. Can't say for sure as I haven't personally compared the two, but you should check.
You may also want to try this forum as some members may have what you are looking for or have access to/or know of wrecking yards that do have the parts.

Well after miles of internet searches and mountains of junk yards I came to this forum 2 days ago. I was desperate. Any way I just wanted to tell you all after a few threads I had a part number and a source. Though expensive I found my part and it is in the mail. I wanted to thank all of you.. Great Job!!

How about posting a link to the site for the benefit of others that might need to find them someday.
A vanner over at vannin.com posted these in the 'ebay' section of the forum, I just moved the link over here for u. Good luck.

Personally I'd never buy from someone off eBay that only takes cashier checks or money orders. With those methods, you have no easy way to track if the check was cashed. Paypal is free, so to not even accept that tells me to stay away from such auctions. But that's just me and my cautious nature.

Paypal is free
Just an FYI: PayPal is NOT free when you receive money; only to send money. PayPal takes a percentage.
However, said percentage is pretty small and you can build that into the price.

Those markers are the same as a '71... The body changes you referenced in must be the grill, tie rod ends, etc. which are all bolt on changes. In '78 there was a major body change an agian in '79.

I've sold on eBay and the only fees I paid were eBay auction fees, Paypal never charged me a thing.

Some people wont accept paypal because they dont want to make the move to a cashless society. More and more credit cards and electronic transfers are taking over the way the world does business. Soon, people wont even have an identity, as their check is direct deposited and all transactions are done electronically. You wont be able to buy a thumbtack without everyone knowing what you have, what you spend, and what you make.
Just try adjusting your deductions when that happens.

Money orders can be tracked through the post office (though you do have to mail a form out) and if its cashed and the item isnt received you can hit them with mail fraud which is a helluva lot more than paypal will EVER do if someone stiffs you.
Paypal ALWAYS charges a fee to remove funds or to recieve an instant cc payment. Only time you dont get charged is when someone pays from a balance in their account (rare in my experience) or an e-check which takes a week to process.

PayPal has had class action law suits against it for freezing funds, halting legit payments and failing to deliver as promised. Just do a a google about it.
My 16 yr old son sells items, PayPal requires 18 or older with a credit card. He sells via heatware ratings and the USPS money orders.
