It all started when I was rolling down my window (manually with the lever thing), and it snapped off. I was like crap well how am I going to smoke in the car without being able to roll down my drivers side window? So I took off the panel and did something and it let it go up and down for a while if I pull it with my hands. Well while manually pulling it up and pushing it down with my hands somehow parts broke off that connected it to the rails inside the door so it would get off the tracks and back onto the tracks and weird stuff that made it all floppy and loose as time went by and stuff broke more. Eventually it got so far off the tracks it was crooked and too far raised up so when I shut the door it shattered. :VHOT:

I don't know what I should do, should I get a completely new door somehow? I tried searching for dodge neon door on google and all I get is people selling parts of the door instead of the whole thing and I can't find anyone selling dodge neon windows... I know my options are probably go to the junkyard and get a door, go to the dealership and have them repair it (would this be expensive), or just get the window replaced (I don't even know where) and deal with it being insecure and floppy...

What does everyone think the best option would be / solution? I have never dealt with a busted window before... right now I have it garaged but it's a pain because I have 2 roommates and guests I have to ask to move their cars when I leave. It is a 98 dodge neon 2 door car btw. I need the most cost effective solution because I am pretty broke.

The glass just bolts in more or less. However to avoid the same problem later you should replace the gutts inside your door. At the right junk yard you might get all the parts you need for less than 50 bucks. Fix it yourself and thats cheap. I wouldn't replace the entire door.

where should I get the glass? if i look in the phone book under windows and a place says "auto" does this mean they can usually replace my car's glass? are there any other places to get the window?

Perhaps you should consider kicking the habit? If you didnt smoke, you might not be in this situation right now. ;)

Just saying...

^^^^ very good advice, you will live longer and your car wont depreciate in value as fast once you stop smoking, wont smell like butt, better breath, and ohh so much more once you stop.

the box where the lever connects is broke, the lever is broke, and the (from the inside of the car) left bracket that connects the bottom of the window to the frame is broken... how would i ask at a junkyard for this?

Tell them you need a drivers side window for X yr Neon and all the stuff inside the door that makes it work. I think you would call it the window track.

If you tell them your problem they should know what you need. They deal with that stuff every day.

What they are trying to tell you is,,,
You need the window regulator assembly + window crank handle !!!

Go to the j/y, and find another Neon @ the same year and get the regulator assembly. Some regulators are pop riveted in or bolted in.
And if you don't find 1 look in the phone book for a PPG ProStar Installer.
(Sorry,,,Free plug!) and they are listed under Autoglass , Automotive Glass.

Now the driver side door glass is part#,
1995 - 1999
DDO8785GTN for the 2 door.

The regulator part I can't find it in our listings.

pop rivets are a PITA. Had to do two power window motor assemblies on a grand am at work with pop rivits... drilling them out sucks, finding teeny tiny bolts and nuts and fishing your hands in there to try and put them in the little holes to reassemble everything sucks even more.
