P or LT265/70R17 is it for the Wild Country.
I've been watching for bigger ones, if they had them out I would have have bought them

Looks to me like they have used wheel spacers and gone to a different size wheel cause I have wondered the same thing (Where do I buy those tires)
Talked with a guy at Whiplash suspensions last week and they use spacers and a different bolt pattern so they have more tire and wheel options. Thats how they got 38's on and 02 RAM 1500.

The spacers move the wheels out far enough that 16's or 16.5's mis the brakes.

I went outside and took a closer look to see what size tire I could fit, and here's what it looks like.

The rear I could put just about anything... 33x12.50... 305/70/17... no problem at all on the stock rim.

However, the front is a world of trouble. It looks like there is may 1/4" between the tire and the top of the upper A-arm or whatever you call it. So by the looks of it I couldn't go any wider of a tire than that without some wheel spacers, and even then it looks like you could go no wider than a .5" wider tire than stock.

Am I missing something? Anyone know what kind of backspacing our stock wheels have?

So 33x12.5 will fit on a 2003 ram stock with torsion bars lifted

Most definitely, as long as it's a 4wd truck because 2wd's don't have torsion bars.

315/70/17's will fit with a torsion crank as I'm running now, and they are more like a 34.4" x 12.

Sounds right to me, My bone stock 04' 1500 4x4 came with 275/60r20's and they measure 33"x11".

I know most guys are going with the BF Goodrich 315/70/17 but I really like the Goodyear MT/R 305/70/17 and the rasied white lettering! They give the truck a real mean look. I had them turn the tortion bar 2 1/2 turns. The front tires only rubbed when the wheel was completely turned one way then the other. They only rubbed the rear in side plastic but after the adjustment it was fine. What do you think?

here is a closer look. It sure did fill up the wheel well.

The guy I talked to at discount tires said that some do and some don't need to be cranked. I just didn't want mine to rub at all so he turned them.

You cheated... your roll bar makes 'em look better! LOL J/K... sweet ride man, I had 305's before the 315's and both are sweet on the Ram.

How much was your gears "4.56" and was it a pain to do? Did you do the transfer case?

jhart,

I had a shop install 'em because it's not something you want to screw up if you've never done it before. Never heard of anyone changing gears in the transfer case, so I don't think there's any need.

It is worth it, but I actually have an '04 Hemi 1500 now with 4.10 gears now, because for racing or interstate I think the 4.56's were too low, the 4.10's I'm hoping will be better. At WOT I could actually hit the rev limiter in 1st gear with the 4.56's. For around town and just normal city driving or towing the 4.56's rock though.
